Get Fit And Enjoy Time Outside in Mahopac This New Year
If you need to blow away the cobwebs and get in shape this New Year, look no further than the Putnam Trailway. The Trailway is a paved cycling and walking path that follows the old New York Central Railroad route.
The Trailway runs for 12 linear miles across Putnam County, starting at the Westchester Border and running to Brewster village. Along the way, you can see some of the original station stops, at:
- Tilly Foster
- Carmel
- Mahopac
- Lake Mahopac
- Baldwin Place
If you are starting at Mahopac, you will find the old Mahopac station site at the American Legion Post Building, situated on Bucks Hollow Road.
There are plans to add some active branch lines so trains can run in the area again. Until then, however, it is an ideal place to walk or cycle.
Even when the weather is cold and damp, fire is still a risk. If you need help with fire restoration, call SERVPRO of Putnam County (845) 228-1090.
