House fire in Hudson Valley home causes widespread damage
This house fire started on the main level of the home and affected the entire house, rendering it uninhabitable. After bringing temporary heat and electricity to the house, our crew began working.
Something that SERVPRO of Putnam County does that not all restoration companies are experienced at is working with your homeowners insurance company to make certain that claims are submitted and handled accurately. This was important in this job as there was extensive structural as well as contents damage.
We ordered a dumpster and sorted through the contents of the home. Much of the furniture, bedding and soft goods were not salvageable. We were able to save many belongings, however, and packed them to brought to our warehouse for storage, cleaning and restoration.
Most of the flooring, walls and ceilings of the home required demolition. We used air scrubbers to filter the smoke and soot particles out of the air as well as the structure itself (soot can find its way into the smallest places!)
Our part in the restoration of this home after fire damage took several weeks. We can't always snap our fingers and make things better instantaneously. We aim to be as efficient and thorough in our jobs so that when our homeowners are able to return, it is a problem free experience.
